We had a wonderful experience getting to know the William B. Travis High School Interact Club today! It was so nice to meet all of their club leaders, and to see them in action getting students excited about Rotary. They were so kind to prepare a presentation with my name on it, and allowed me to speak a little bit about Rotary and how our club is excited to support them. They have done a book drive, and even a Waterwell project already. Amazing what they are doing, and I look forward to many more projects. One of the next ones is Rescue Us Mission and their walk on September 28.
We are all very thankful for Miss Cordova being the club sponsor. We look forward to supporting everyone and making an impact in our community together!
We had a wonderful start to the day, joining the Attack Poverty volunteers to help make the community just a little bit better. What an amazing group of volunteers, helping provide food, helping with animal care, and then what I did, which is walking the neighborhood and making sure that everyone’s needs are being met. That is an insightful way to learn about what kind of help can be given. We were able to complete several surveys, and many were amazed that Friends of North Rosenberg offers, such as GED teaching, English classes, and much more.
It was also great to see fellow Rotarian Ayo Alabi there with some other Rotarians from his club! They participate in any yet another project from Attack Poverty, which was distributing food in the community.
Mark your calendar again for our new Rotary Action club meeting this month on 25 September, Wednesday at 6pm at Alings Chinese Bistro, 6542 Hwy 90 Alt, Sugar Land.
We now have 5 members in the club and will be growing fast with more new members. Get in on the action early. Come join us for a fantastic gathering of friends and future friends and join together to do some Action Service Projects in our community. Bring your mind and body and service project ideas to the meeting next week.
If you have any quetions about this action club please contact Dean.
Andre invites you to join Rescue Us Mission for our annual fundraising Walk event on September 28th in Sugar Land, Texas. Your participation will support trafficked women in our community. If you are unable to attend, please consider making a donation to our mission. Thank you.

Great Music, Good Food and Lots of Fun for Everyone
This is a FUN event for our ENTIRE District 5890 to raise funds for polio. It will be October 24-27 at the First Colony Mall during mall hours.
There are 13 clubs (TBC, might increase a bit) in the district competing to see which pumkin is the best. We want Sugar Land Rotary to WIN!
How it works:
1. On Wednesday, October 23rd Sugar Land Rotarians (also from SLAC & our Interactors) are encouraged to bring a carved pumpkin to the meeting. We will vote which one is the best, that one will go to the mall!
2. Where: First Colony Mall (they are offering us FREE space!)
3. When: October 24-27.
4. How it works: there will be two 8' tables in a high traffic area in the mall. The ~13 club pumpkins will be displayed. Mall visitors will VOTE with DOLLARS! Rotarians will vote as well.
5. Sponsorships: those wishing to sponsor the Sugar Land Rotary pumkin can (great exposure to thousands of potential customers)!
6. All funds raised will be devided evenly between the ~13 clubs and is for polio. RI is asking for $2k from every club this Rotary year.
Note: on Saturday, October 26th, the mall will have "Malloween". This is very popular annual event that they have with very high attendence! Plus we ALL get to dress up in costumes that day. :-)
Don't let the fun stop there! Head out to the Lomax Arena in La Porte to partake in a night of fun with Live Auction, Silent Auction, Reverse Draw Raffle and more.
